Sophomore Mary Badeen recorded 3 Three Point baskets and had 11 points while Sophomore Marissa Shaw recorded 9 Points and 10 Rebounds and Junior Julie Smith recorded 7 assists as the Nokomis Lady Warriors rolled to a 61-33 Victory over the Lincoln Academy Lady Eagles in a Class B girls Basketball game played at Nokomis High School in Newport, Maine on Tuesday Evening.
Shaw and Badeen came out of the locker room ready to play as Badeen hit 2 Three Pointers, and Shaw recorded 7 Points, 5 Rebounds and 2 Steals in the first quarter. Nokomis outscored Lincoln Academy 15-5 in the second quarter to take a 31-14 halftime lead. Senior Kara Batchelder recorded 6 second quarter points while Senior Rachael Tozier recorded 5 Points in the second quarter. Smith had 5 of her assists in the first half.
Everyone received quite a bit of second half playing time for the Warriors as 10 players ended up scoring and 9 Nokomis players ended up with at least one rebound. Sophomore Emilee Reynolds recorded 8 second half points all scored in the 4th quarter. Junior Samantha Richardson recorded 6 second half rebounds for the Warriors. Junior Marni Jones scored 17 Points for Lincoln Academy to lead all scorers. The Warriors out rebounded the Eagles 40-22 for the game. Nokomis moves to 7-2 with the victory and the Warriors are now 5th in the latest Eastern B Heal Points. Nokomis will travel to Leavitt to take on the 8-0 Hornets on Thursday Evening. Lincoln Academy drops to 3-6 and will next play at home on Thursday against MCI. Get full team and player stats for both teams below.
