JB Royals leave DIS Mariners in fog

Any ideas the Mariners of DIS had of upsetting the Royals and gaining a home prelim game were quickly put to rest as JB used it's size advantage and powered their way to a 55-31 over the Mariners at Jonesport-Beals High School.

After a quarter,in which the Mariners tried to dictate a slow pace,JB rode a 6 point,4 rebound effort of So. center Justin Alley,to a 8-7 end of quarter score. Quarter 2 was more of the same as Alley again led the charge with 5 points and 5 rebounds. A deep three by So.forward Tyler Turcotte aided in the Royals taking a 21-12 lead into the half.

In quarter number 3,DIS tried to mount their comeback, riding two quick threes by Evan Rollins and Kevin Melanio, but it was short lived as JB's Matt Alley finally got hot and went for 8 quick points.Fr. forward Garet Beal also picked up his game and contributed 4 points and 5rebounds to the effort as the Royals headed for the fourth quarter with a 35-21 lead.

In past games,JB has been unable to put teams away, but tonight, any thoughts of a rally to tighten the score were short lived. Two quick jumpers by Matt alley and two layups of steals by Andrew Beal pushed the lead to 22 points and it was over from there.Dustin Powers and Dylan Brown of DIS each scored 4 points in the quarter, but matching baskets at this point was futile. Justin Alley and Garet Beal answered with baskets of their own and JB put the Mariners away for good.
